Our History of Adding Value to Careers
- GEM has been established since 2005. We have 20 years experience specialising in international training arrangements with universities around the world. We are an approved service provider for various universities and colleges in Switzerland, France, India, China, Thailand, Malaysia, Indonesia etc.
- We are an authentic British company and have been supported through trade missions by the British High Commission
- We are an Official Partner with USA J1 Visa Sponsors, Australia training programmes, and have been working with France Michelin guide host on official training programmes and career development schemes

Our alumni number several 1000 including senior hospitality leaders across the world and educationalist. Our alumni can be found in entrepreneurship, General management and heads of department all across the world.
Over the years GEM Interns have gained hospitality, pattiserie and culinary training in France often in Michelin Guide establishments. Many have gone on to establish businesses, work abroad, gain work permits in France and advance their careers.
We also have many who have gained training with us in the UAE, Maldives, in 5 star hosts in Australia, the USA J1 programmes and UK Tier 5 programmes. We have a specialist UK Government authorised programme for back office training HR, Marketing, PR, Accounting in the UK.

Global Education Management Overseas Ltd (GEM for short) is a UK based company who are Youth Work and Travel Abroad Experts.
We have over 20 years’ experience of working with Educational Institutes and young people to gain training, cultural exchange and internship experience abroad mainly in the hospitality industry.
We are 100 percent British SME and proud of being a UK based company.
We were one of the earliest developers of internships abroad and have made presentations across the globe supported by the British government on the benefits of cultural exchange.
We provide a full package of services to support you through our connections with overseas visa sponsors, cultural exchange providers, host properties and travel agencies.
Our Approach is through patient counselling and guidance. We work with colleges and Universities to ensure your academic studies are best enhanced from our abroad options.
Our Services
GEM can help you arrange an overseas training experience and provide a full package of services for you including:

- organising a structured training internship for you
- helping with visa sponsorship from Government Authorised Cultural Exchange sponsors

We help arrange with specialist partners (separate costs) your compulsory medical and travel insurance, and through travel agent partners your flights and in country journey.

How does cultural exchange help your personal growth ?
The late Terry Pratchett’s quote from his book A Hat Full of Sky is very relevant. He mentions,
“Why do you go away? So that you can come back. So that you can see the place you came from with new eyes and extra colours. And the people there see you differently, too. Coming back to where you started is not the same as never leaving.”
Most of our interns have a life changing experience that gives them a new perspective on life and builds their self-confidence, soft and hard skill sets and gives them the ability to manage themselves, become more culturally aware; problem solve and improve their language abilities. They become more mature and clearer about their future career paths.
To make the most of your experience it is important that you are hard-working; have a positive attitude, genuine nature; make friends; flexible to change and adapt to a new country’s customs, language, laws, food, weather, and people. Those that do these things will have an excellent time travelling and with their overseas exchange programme.

- Official Government Authorised Exchange Programmes – We follow the conditions set by each Government for Cultural Exchanges and Mobility programmes and work directly with the Sponsors. We also follow industry guidance on youth exchanges.
- Documentary Exemptions – We are often able to obtain documentary exemptions based on the trust we have built up with different organisations. Also move applications forward faster because of our links. This is based on a case-by-case basis.
- Direct Government support – we work with official bodies like Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO), UK Trade and Investment (UKTI), British Council and British Embassies to assist the UK Government aims for: increasing exports overseas from SMEs; increasing cross cultural bilateral youth Exchanges; Youth Mobility projects; Vocational Training and Employability skills.
